Mary CASSIDY was convicted at Londonderry on 18 March 1850 for stealing a purse. 10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' 1851. Aged 22yrs; country servant; single; 4'7 1/2"; Roman Catholic. Native place - Londonderry Assigned to work services in the Colony. April 1852: Having potatoes in her possession. 4mths hard labour. 15 Aug 1853: Delivered of a male child, at the Female House of Correction, Hobart. (Father's name not recorded). Ref. 33/1/5 no. 52. 17 July 1855: Child Francis Cassidy, aged 2yrs died, at the Orphan School. 27 Nov 1855: Ticket of Leave granted. 24 Mar 1847: Conditional Pardon approved. 11 Feb 1856: Marriage to Elisha HALE, at Hobart. (ref. 1856)Elisha transported per "William Jardine" 1844. 11 Oct 1861: Certificate of Freedom. Children: male chid born 12 Aug 1856 (twin). Father - Elisha Hales. Mother - Mary Ann Cassidy. Hobart. female child Mary Ann born 12 Aug 1856 (twin)/ a/a. Died 14 Sept 1856. Child: Sarah Ann HALE b. 26 Mar 1858. Father - Elisha Hale. Mother - Mary Ann Cassidy. Hobart district. Died 2 Apr 1861, aged 3yrs. Child: Martha HALE b. 14 Sept 1862. Father - Elisha Hale. Mother - Mary Ann Cassidy. Hobart district. 13 Dec 1875: Westbury, Tasmania Court - Larceny. 3 mths hard labour. (Charged under name of "Hale") Husband Elisha Hale died, at Hobart, 20 Nov 1865.
