1864 - DIED; 29 May 1864. Registered at Hobart. No; 4472. Cause of death; Phthisis pulmonalis, also known as pulmonary consumption, is an old term for pulmonary tuberculosis. It refers to a morbid condition of the lungs, often associated with ulceration and the expectoration of purulent matter. The term “phthisis” signifies a wasting away or consumptive condition.
