Family connections for John (Cawson) are: Amendment added Jul 2025. CAWSON John (Cawson) was tried at Lancaster/shire Sessions of Peace, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6.5months on NILE CANADA OR MORLEY. He had a relationship with Mary (Nuttle age14 her first relationship). [Some details taken from this Website] Mary (Nuttle/Nuttall) was born, possibly in Bolton Lancashire, about 1790. She was tried, age12, for stealing a bonnet etc of John (Stott) at Salford New Bailey Lancaster/shire Quarter Sessions in July 1802, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 4 1804 after a voyage of 5months on EXPERIMENT; she was sent to Female Factoory. She had a second relationship at age15 with Thomas (Reynolds his second relationship) from 1805 whom she later married. She was issued her Certificate of Freedom in June 1810. She married Thomas (Reynolds on 9 7 1821 at St Marys RC Sydney, & produced 7children. In the 1820s he lived at 100 Pitt St Sydney & operated a haberdashery with assistance from her daughters. She died on 13 12 1833 age43 mother of maybe 9children & was buried at Devonshire St (St Phillips CofE?) cemetery-later moved to La Perouse. [Some details taken from this Website] John (Cawson/Carson/Carsey/Carfrey) & Mary (Nuttle) produced 2children, 1before & 1during her relationship with Thomas (Reynolds): 1.Ann (Carson) was born on 11 4 1805 & baptised on 24 6 1805 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married at age16 Edward (Turner age37) on 3 12 1821 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & produced 7children. ..Edward (Turner) was born about 1784. He was tried w/10 others for high treason in Derby riots against the monarch at Derby Oyer Terminer Commission, sentenced to death commuted to Life, held at Derby Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 9 1818 after a voyage of 5.5months on ISABELLA. He was issued his Ticket of Leave in 1807. Smees records show him Free by Servitude by 1822. He was assigned to his wife in 1825. He was recorded in 1827 & 1828 as a stone cutter. He was issued his Certificate of Freedom on 6 4 1833 after being recommended in 1831 & his Absolute Pardon, as a stone mason, on 1 1 1835; he was 5'8.5" dark brown to grey hair dark chestnut eyes. He built a public house Which he named the 'Stonemason's Arms' at 135 Broadway Sydney which became 'Essen' then 'One Rice, One Noodle'. He died on 3 9 1841 age57-67 at home Parramatta St. ..[Some details taken from this Website] .. 2.John (Carsey/Carfey) was born on 17 12 1813 (as recorded in Smees records to mother Mary (Nuttell EXPERIMENT 1804)) & baptised on 16 1 1814 at st Phillips Sydney.
