Family connections for Elizabeth (Celey) are: CELEY/COLLY Elizabeth (Colly/Celey/Keiver/Heiver) was born on 28 8 1771 at North Curry Taunton Deane Somerset. She became a housewife-perhaps with ??? (Keiver/Heiver). She was tried, as (Kelly/Kever), with her mother Elizabeth (Boon/Vickery/Ceely) for larceny of apron etc (recieved by her mother) at Taunton Assizes Somerset on 3 8 1795, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW, as Elizabeth (Colly), with her mother on 18 7 1798 after a voyage of 6.5months on BRITANNIA; she was Protestant. She married firstly (in Australia) John (Rogers) on 29 10 1798 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & produced 4children.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] John (Rogers) was born about 1757 & christened on 31 7 1757 at St James Piccadilly Westminster London-he became a coach builder. He apparantly served with army of Marquis of Cornwallis in American War of Independence (1775-83) where he lost a hand. He was tried for highway robbery w/1other at Old Bailey on 4 6 1783, sentenced to death reprieved to Life, held probably at London or Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 7months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate. He was Free by Servitude by 1800. He was issued a Free Pardon/Conditional Emancipation in June 1803. He was a landholder at Parramatta when he died on 22 2 1826 age48 at Parramatta. She was Free by Servitude by 1812. She is recorded in 1828 with her family at Double Bay. She died in 1863 age about91 mother of 8known children. Robert (Richardson) was born about 1770. He was tried for breaking entering, on 17 1 1799, & stealing apparel of Edward (Harris) at Old Bailey on 20 2 1799, sentenced to 7years, held probably at London or Middlesex Gaol Delivery & hulk at Langston harbour Portsmouth-from where he escaped on 17 8 1799. He was tried for escaping at Old Bailey on 11 11 1799, sentenced to death reprieved to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 20 11 1800 after a voyage of 9months on ROYAL ADMIRAL; he was Protestant. He was Free by Servitude by 1812. He is recorded in 1828 with Conditional Pardon lime burner with his family at Double Bay. He died in 1841 age71. In the colony, Elizabeth married John Rogers (Second Fleet Convict, 1790, "Neptune"). They married on 29th October 1798, at St John's, Parramatta. ..Year 1798 p.17 No.56 Text: John Rogers of the parish of Parramatta and Elizabeth Celey [sic] of ditto were married in this church by banns this twenty ninth day of October in the year one thousand seven hundred and minty eight by me Samuel Marsden. John Rogers signed the register and Elizabeth made her X mark In the presence of Joseph Pocock and Mary Ann Smith who both signed the register. Elizabeth and John had 4 children in the period before 1806. John unfortunately died in 1806, leaving her a widow with 4 young children. On 10th June 1811, Elizabeth married tRobert Richardson (Convict, 1800, "Royal Admiral") at St John’s Church, Parramatta. Robert Richardson of the parish of St John Parramatta and Elizabeth Rogers of ditto were married in this church by banns this tenth day of June in the year one thopusand eight hundred and eleven by me Samuel Marsden. Robert sighed the register and Elizabeth made her X mark, in the presence of Stephen Short and Elizabeth Phelps who both made their X marks. Elizabeth and Robert had 4 children in the period 1812 to 1820.
