Family connections for Elizabeth (Chaffrey) are: CHAFFREY Elizabeth (Chaffery/ey/Caffrey/Shaffrey) was born in 1780. She was tried at Dublin Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 2 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS. She had a relatioship with William (Freeman) & produced 8children. She was Free by Servitude by 1803. She is recorded in 1806 as housekeeper/concubine for William (Freeman) with 5children. She is also recorded in 1814 as in gaol. She died on 25 2 1816 age36/8 & was buried at St Matthews CofE Sydney. [Some details taken from this website] William (Freeman) was born in 1769 & became a cooper. He was tried for stealing, on 20 6 1791, casks of William (Wootton) at Old Bailey on 20 7 1791, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex & on CENSOR hulk & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 10 1792 after a voyage of 4.5months on ROYAL ADMIRAL. He was Free by Servitude by 1801. He is recorded in 1806 with his concubine & 5children. He is recorded in 1814 as a cooper with 7children. He died on 28 8 1820 age51/59 & was buried at St Matthews CofE Windsor. Unable to locate in 1802 Muster record. 1806 Muster: [Ref A4209 page 100] Elizabeth Shaffery, Earl Cornwallis, FBS, Housekeeper for William Freeman. [Ref C1166 page 176] Elizabeth Shaffery, Earl Cornwallis, concubine, 4 male and 1 female 'natural' children. 1814 Muster: [Ref 3018 page 69] Elizabeth Shaffrey, Earl Cornwallis, on stores. IN GAOL. (no information located). also [Ref 0240 page 7] William Freeman, Royal Admiral, Off Stores, 7 children off stores, Cooper. One of the few males listed with children, presumably becasue they were in hsi care whilst his 'wife' was in gaol. The other child is William, the eldest son, he is listed separately, [Ref 0738 page 18] William Freeman, born in colony, a youth, off stores. William jnr would be aged about 18-19.

In the colony, Elizabeth 'married' William Freeman (Convict, 1792 "Royal Admiral". The couple lived in the Windsor area and had 8 children between 1797 and 1811, 7 sons and a single daughter.
