Born about 1812 in Soham, Cambridgeshire to Henry Chalkley and Ann Maria Roper. Lived in Stevenage, Hertfordshire and married Eliza Austin 2nd March 1835 in Stevenage. Had 4 children, David (b. 1835), William (b.1838), Mary Ann (b. 1840) and Charles (b. 1843).

Born in Soham, Cambridgeshire and then lived in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Son of Henry Chalkley and Ann Maria Roper. Married Eliza Austin 2 Jan 1837 in Stevenage and had 4 children before being convicted (David b. 1835, William b. 1838, Mary Ann (b. 1840) and Charles (b. 1843).
