1825 Journey. On Saturday morning (3 Dec) arrived from London and Dublin, the ship Henry Porcher, Captain John Thompson, with 175 male prisoners, having lost one man - the rest in good health. She sailed from London the 10th of July, and Dublin the 5th of August. The guard comprises a detachment of the 47th Regiment, under the orders of Captain Donaldson. The Surgeon Superintendent is Dr. CARTER, R. N. Sydney Gazette, 5 Dec 1825.

Sick List of the Henry Porcher, during the voyage to New South Wales from 2 September 1834 to 6 January 1835. Ancestry Convict Indents: James Chapman, aged 36, Convict; disease or hurt, cholera. Put on sick list, 31 August 1834. Discharged, 5 November 1834. James Chapman was listed as 38 years old on arrival. Native Place: Hertfordshire. Occupation: Farm servant/shepherd. James was illiterate, protestant, married with 1 male child, 5'4½" tall, sallow and freckled complexion, brown hair, grey to blue eyes, sickly looking, lost tops of fourth and little fingers of left hand. 1839: TOL Yass 20/6/1840: TOL Passport, on the recommendation of Mr McArthur. 24/1/1843: COF

Son of William & Mary Chapman FHL Film Number 991305 Wife: Kitty Chapman nee Ward Married 6th November 1824 in Clothall, Hertfordshire, England FHL Film Number 991311 Son: William Chapman Baptised on 2nd September 1825 in Ardeley, Hertfordshire, England Crime: Charged with breaking and entering Rev Henry Northam's dwelling in Weston and stealing a boiler, pail, fry pan and 12 plates in 1834 whilst living in Clothall, Hertfordshire, England.

James was born about 1798. He was charged with breaking & entering of Rev Walter (Northam)s dwelling at Weston, stole boiler, pail, frypan, 12 plates in 1834 while living at Clothall Hertfordshire. He was sentenced to 7yrs & arrived in NSW on HENRY PORCHER in 1835. In 1837 he was employed by Messrs (McArthur) at Yass age40. The 1825 census has him arriving in 1825.
