Charles Howes settled in Tasmania after his sentence was served. He married and raised a family in Tasmania. His son Charles Howes born 1834 in Tasmania headed to Victoria during the gold rush of the early 1850s, participating in the Eureka stockade uprising. Charles Howes died in Ballarat, Victoria in 1876.
