Convict Notes
High Court of Justiciary. Charles Forrester, senior, and Charles Forrester, junior, stood charged with having broken into the shop of Mr Seymour, draper, Tranent, in November last, and steeling therefrom a great number of handkerchiefs, shawls, &c. aggravated in the case of the latter by being habit and repute a thief, and previously convicted. Christian McKecknie, or Forrester, wife of the elder prisoner, was accused of reselling the stolen goods. The male prisoners having pleaded Guilty, the Solicitor-General deserted the indict against the female, who was dismissed from the bar. The elder prisoner was sentenced to seven years, and his son to ten years' transportation. Witness (Edinburgh), 20 March 1841.
