Charles Pickever was transported on the Ann Or Anne, departing 31st Jul 1809 and arriving 27th Feb 1810 with 200 passengers.
1800/1810 Journey Ship Anne, Captain James Stewart. Left Cork 26 June 1800 with 147 men and 24 women. There was a mutiny on board on the 29th July 1800, but the ship’s company overcame the insurgents. The ringleader, Marcus Sheehy, confessed his guilt, and was immediately executed on board in the presence of all the convicts. Another convict, the leader on deck, Christopher Grogan, was sentenced to 250 lashes. The ship arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales on 21 February 1801. The Humble Memorial of Charles Pickever Respectfully sheweth That Memorialist was convicted at the Old Bailey in the years 1807 and arrived in this Colony per Ship Ann, - Clark Master, in 1810, a Prisoner for Life. That Memorialist has for a series of years, past been employed in His Majesty’s Stores at Sydney in which situation he has studied to conduct himself with propriety, and flatters himself that his conduct will bear the closest investigation. That your Excellency’s Memorialist therefore .. the above circumstances most humbly solicits your Excellency may be pleased to take his case into consideration and deign to grant him an Emancipation. And your Excellency’s Memorialist as in duty bound will ever pray, Charles Pickever. I have known the Petitioner for a period of five years, during three of which he was employed at H.M. Magazines, at Sydney, while I had charge of them, and on every occasion found, that he conducted himself as an honest, strictly sober and well behaved man.
