Family connections for Christian (Cameron) are: CAMERON Christian/Catherine? (Cameron/Catherine?) was born about 1809/14. She was tried for repeated pickpocketing at Edinburgh Court of Justiciary Scotland on 6 6 1831, sentenced to 14years & arrived in Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) as a convict on 10 8 1832 after a voyage of 4months on HYDERY; she was small build round sallow face brown hair. She was unruly in the colony. She married firstly Rum/Rom/Runn/Johnny (Con/n his second marriage) widower on 13 11 1835 at Campbell Town Court House Van Diemens Land (Tasmania). In 1841 she lost her Ticket of Leave for keeping a disorderly house & imprisoned for 6months with hard labour; she was confined to Launceston on her release, but still got into trouble.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] Rum/Rom/Runn/Johnny (Con/n) was possibly born at Inrah (muslim village Princely State of Garnace) Goograh India & became a marine/lascar in 11th Battalion 2nd East Indies Regiment Bombay. He had a first marriage possibly in India. He was perhaps discharged from the army. He arrived at Port Jackson NSW from perhaps India perhaps as a seaman on 3 5 1795 on ENDEAVOUR. He apparantly left Port Jackson on 18 9 1795 on ENDEAVOUR headed for India via New Zealand & Norfolk Island. This ship was unseaworthy & was scuttled at Dusky Sound near south New Zealand; he then travelled to Norfolk Island on the PROVIDENCE-found marooned at Dusky Bay-arriving on 16 1 1796--or on ASSISTANCE built from lifeboats of ENDEAVOUR---or returned to Port Jackson in early 1797 on MERCURY which found the remaining souls. In any event he arrived on Norfolk Island <1803 (perhaps in 1798) & bought 20acres part plot71 at south west of the island from John (McCarty) in July 1803. He is recorded with 7.5acres cultivated thatched log house & supplying meat to Government stores in February 1805 on Norfolk Island. He had 20acres when he left Norfolk Island in 1807 to Tasmania-to 35acres grant at New Norfolk. He later worked for Bartholomew (Reardon) as stockman at Eastern Marshes, where he stayed for 14years. In 1823 he bought 1,700acres at Macquarie River from Bartholomew (Reardon) to be paid for in instalments & bequeathing of the property to his (Reardon)s sons. He trapped kangaroos & dogs for skins to provide for himself (frugally). In 1829 he claimed to be Presbyterian & became a member of Kirklands Church near Campbell Town which had been established by the (Taylor) family of Scotland. In September 1835 he conveyed his land at Port Macquarie River to John (Taylor) & his heirs for life. In 1836 a dispute between Bartholomew (Reardon), Rum John (Conn) & John (Taylor) provided no resolution, although a deed poll memorial became effective on 31 12 1833 placing the land with Rum John (Conn). He was granted 35acres at New Norfolk perhaps in 1829. He died at St Johnstone Macquarie River on 21 7 1841 & was buried at Kirklands cemetery; he left his New Norfolk land to goddaughter Sarah (Fletcher) & his 1,700acres at Macquarie River to sons of Bartholomew (Reardon); John (Taylor) applied for the Macquarie River property again, this time succefully. Thomas (Birch) was born about 1796. He was tried for burglary at Oxford Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) as a convict on 6 3 1828 after a voyage of 4months on MARMION. He was in much trouble, but earned his Conditional Pardon in 1841.
