Absconded on the 31st ultimo (August), from the Royal Society's Gardens, Hobart Town, whilst undergoing a sentence of 2 years passed upon him at the Supreme Court, Launceston, on the 3rd June 1869, for larceny and an additional sentence of 12 months passed upon him on the 13th October 1869 for absconding from the Cascade Factory (TPG, 8th Oct 1869, p162). George Christie, per Ratcliff 2, F.S., aged 44 years, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion , large head, dark brown hair, whiskers shaved off, round visage, forehead high, light brown eyebrows, light grey eyes, medium nose and mouth, broad chin ; a labourer, native place Paisley, Scotland ; dressed in grey prison clothing ; scars on forefinger and back of left hand and ring finger of right hand, and right and left cheeks ; mole on left side of neck.
