Labourer. ---------------------------------------------------- Return of convicts confined in the Prison of the City of Kilkenny. James Clancey, age 24, Crime, Highway robbery. Tried before Honorable Justice Day, 29 July 1818, Sentence: To be hanged on the 1 day of September 1818, but respited at different time by his Excellency the Lord Lieutenant. Good health. Character: Character nearly the same as Stapleton, nearly made his escape by breaking the arch of his cell. (Stapleton’s character is described as “Infamous character being in prison before for felony, and since his trial at different times attempted to break gaol.”) Signed Thomas Tallent, Gaoler City of Kilkenny.
