James Claridge was listed as 26 years old on arrival. Place of Birth: Oxford. Mother: Alice Brother: Charles Sisters: Mary, Charlotte, Eliza, Hannah, Harriet. James was literate, single CofE, 5'2½" tall, dark complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, hazel eyes, tree, E.C. H.C H.C. and several other letters on right arm, tree and several blue marks on left arm. 20/10/1852: TOL 16/7/1853: Storey/Hobart/Larceny under £5 - fifteen months hard labour. 12/8/1857: Free Certificate (himself) - working for himself**. 28/12/1861: Married Annie Lincoln (1836-1913) at St. Matthias, Windermere, Launceston, Tas.
