October 5 - Royal Saxon, barque, 510 tons, Charlesworth, from Calcutta June 29th, with a general cargo. Passengers - and 10 male convicts. Colonial Times, 8 Oct 1850. THE "ROYAL SAXON." — This vessel anchored in our harbour on Saturday evening, from Calcutta and Madras. She has on board a very fine royal tiger, about 15 months old, and measuring about 4 feet 6 inches in length; also a young bear and several monkies. Hobarton Guardian, 9 Oct 1850. -------------------------------------------------- PORT OF HOBART TOWN ARRIVALS. August 12 - Barque Royal Saxon, 712 tons, Charlesworth from Calcutta 1st of June, with a general cargo, and 16 male prisoners. Colonial Times, 15 Aug 1851.

Convict conduct record. https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON37-1-6$init=CON37-1-6p228 1959. Thomas Clark. Arrived on Royal Saxon. 5/10/1850. Tried Bombay Ct. Ml. 29 Sept 49. 14 years. Transported for forgery. Stated this offence, forging a cheque on the Bombay Bank for £105. by the E.I.C. I was paymaster Serjeant of the 22 Regt. Single. Church of England, Can read and write. Clerk, age 30 , 5 ft 6 ¼ ins. Native of Ilford, (Essex).
