Date. 1834 Apr 3. 2 individual petitions (William Kerney, prisoner's father and S Horner, chaplain) and 1 collective petition (26 inhabitants of Dublin) on behalf of Catherine Clarke alias Catherine Kerney convicted at the Liverpool Quarter sessions [Lancashire] in January 1833 for stealing 70lbs of cheese. Grounds for clemency: respectable industrious parents, led respectable life in Dublin, led astray by present profligate husband, good conduct while in prison, poor state of health, her father having to look after her 2 children, if sent to penitentiary family would try to reform her. Initial sentence: 14 years transportation. Gaoler's report: convicted before. Annotated: nil. AT 8
