Family connections for Elizabeth (Clarke) are: Replacing my contribution of 2023. CLARKE A confusion has existed between the two convicts Elizabeth (Crooke/s) & Elizabeth (Clarke) from the INDISPENSIBLE Elizabeth (Clark) was born about 1777. She was tried at Stafford Assizes, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 30 4 1796 after a voyage of 6months on INDISPENSIBLE. She married firstly William (Buchanan) on 23 4 1797 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was moved to Norfolk Island in 1801. She was Free by Servitude by 1803. An Elizabeth (Clark) is recorded on Norfolk Island as off stores in February 1805. She left Norfolk Island with her family on 5 4 1809.>>> William (Buchana/on/Bohannon) was born about 1768. He is recorded in NSW Corps as William (Buchanon); Ref.'People...' suggests that the 2surnames refer to the same person. He enlisted in NSW Corps on 12 11 1790 as a private. He arrived in NSW on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months in Fleet of ACTIVE, ALBERMARLE, ATLANTIC, BARRINGTON, BRITANNIA. MARY ANN, MATILDA, SALAMANDER OR WILLIAM AND ANN; he was detached to (Foveaux)s company with which he went to Norfolk Island in 1801-where he was recorded as William (Bohannon) in Norfolk Island records. He is recorded as private NSW Corps on Norfolk Island in February 1805. He was detached to (Lamb)s company in 1808. He left Norfolk Island with his family on 5 4 1809 where he was detached to (McArthur)s company then 8company & 6company. On 24 4 1810 he was transferred to Veterans company. He was a private formerly NSW Corps when he died on 20 2 1815 age47; he was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. Elizabeth (Clark) & William (Buchanan) produced perhaps 8children: not necesarily in this order 1.Elizabeth (Buchanan/Bohannon) was born on 12 6 1798 on Norfolk Island. [maybe adopted child of Thomas (Farr) - as an Elizabeth (Clark), child, is recorded at Norfolk Island as off stores in February 1805-noted birth dates differ. 2.Jane (Buchanan/Bohannon) was born on 12 6 1798 also & baptised on 27 8 1799 age 14months at (or recorded by) St Phillips CofE Sydney. She left Norfolk Island with her parents on 5 4 1809. 3.George (Buchanan/Bohannon). He left Norfolk Island with his parents on 5 4 1809. 4.James (Buchanan/Bohannon). He left Norfolk Island with his parents on 5 4 1809. 5.Elizabeth (Buchanan/Bohannon) was born on 20 7 1803 & baptised on 17 8 1803 on Norfolk Island. 6.Margaret (Buchanan/Bohannon) was born in 1805. She died on 30 5 1805 age<4m & was buried on Norfolk Island. [Ref:'People...' shows 1804.] 7.Margaret (Buchanan) was born on 29 9 1808 & baptised on 8 7 1810 age22m at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She left Norfolk Island with her parents on 5 4 1809; although Smee shows her dying on 20 11 1808 age2m at Sydney-or recorded there. 8.Sophia (Buchanan). She left Norfolk Island with her parents on 5 4 1809. .. Noted a Juliana (???) is recorded as born in 180x's to an Elizabeth (Clarke) & baptised on 4 3 1811 at St Johns CofE Launceston. .. >>>Elizabeth (-/Buchannan) married secondly James (Leeper) private on 18 10 1815 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. [Noted an Elizabeth (Clarke) is recorded as dying on 30 7 1816 age47 (therefore born about 1762) free & buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. James (Leeper) was with 34th Regiment. He was a private in 1815.
