The Convict indentures state that Edmond Cleary was 27 Years old. He was a native of Clonmell. He was a baker. Edmond was convicted at County Wicklow along with John Carrol, in March 1815 and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 4 inches; complexion dark pale; hair brown and eyes grey.
Received Certificate of Freedom on 15 July 1824 (number 51/2326). Certificate states height 5 feet 3 1/2 inches; complexion dark ruddy; hair grey and eyes hazel.
NSW General Muster 1825 states that Edmond Cleary was living in Sydney and occupation baker.
It appears that he returned to Ireland to only be convicted and transported to Sydney on Waterloo (4) under the name of Edward Power.
