North Devon.  Harriet Clement, a young woman, servant of Mr. C. Darke, maltster, was guilty stealing a silk handkerchief, black lace veil, ribbon, and shawl, the property of her mistress. The prisoner having been convicted the Quarter Sessions for Barnstaple  held the 8th January, 1838. for stealing wearing-apparel, was sentenced for this second offence, to ten years' transportation.   Exeter and Plymouth Gazette, 12 Jan 1839.
