Limerick Assizes. William Clough, soldier of the 36th Regiment, was indicted for cutting and stabbing with a bayonet, one James Ward, with intent to maim and disable him. Clonmel Herald, 21 March, 1829. William Clough, 36th Regiment, for stabbing James Ward with a bayonet; and Thomas Hickey for feloniously seizing a bayonet - sentence of death recorded in both cases. Limerick Chronicle, 21 March 1829. A Reprieve for William Clough and Thomas Hickey, against whom sentence of death was recorded at the last Assizes, was received, this day, by the City of Limerick Sheriffs. Limerick Evening Post, 27 March 1829. --------------------------------------------------------------- The following convicts from the City Limerick Gaol, were this morning transmitted under a military escort to the prison ship at Cove, previous to being forwarded to Botany Bay:—John Hogan, larceny, Patrick Meagher, | pig stealing, John Hegarty and Peter Garvey, geese | stealing, John Walsh, sheep stealing, James Maddigan, larceny, , Denis Enright, pig stealing, Joseph Fitzgerald, i larceny, to be transported for seven years— William Cluff : 36th Regt, assault with intent to murder, death recorded ; Thomas Hickey, seizing arms.
