Cornelius Clohessy was transported on the Waterloo, departing 21st May 1836 and arriving 6th Sep 1836 with 220 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Convict Notes
The Convict Indentures state that Cornelius Clohessy was 26 years old. He could neither read nor write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Clare. He was a farm servant. Cornelius was convicted of an unlawful oath on 14 July 1835 in Clare and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 5 1/4 inches; complexion ruddy and a little pock pitted; hair brown and eyes brown. Transport number 81. Prisoner number 36-1884. Comment on indenture form 'that he was brother to 36-1885 (Michael Clohessy)'. Received Ticket of leave on 9 July 1841 (number 41/153) in the Illawarra District. Received Certificate of Freedom on 19 October 1842 (number 42/1819). 1837 NSW General Muster states that Cornelius was assigned to the Government in Sydney.
