Mary Coffee was convicted at Kerry on 27/3/1850 for stealing a cow. Previous conviction. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land on the 'Blackfriar', arriving 1851. Gaol Report: Quiet. Ship Surgeon's Report: Quiet Single; country servant; aged 20yrs; Roman Catholic; native place - Co. Kerry; 5'; dark complexion; dk brown hair; Hazel eyes. Mother: Margaret Brother: Jeremiah Sisters: Susan, Ellen & Catherine -at native place. Assignments of service at New Town Farm and various in Hobart. 25/10/1852: married James Russell (free) at Hobart (ref. 730/1852-37) 17/10/1854: Ticket of Leave 24/04/1855: Ticket of Leave revoked - absent 20/11/1855: Ticket of Leave restored Children to James & Mary Russell: note: mother's name is recorded as "Coffey". MARY ANN b. 19/07/1853 Hobart ref. 2467/1853-33 ROBERT b. 19/07/1853 Hobart ref. 2468/1853-33. Died same day. ref. 218/1853-35. ROBERT b. 23/09/1859 Sorell ref. 2085/1859-33.
