Tuesday, November 19th. Lewis Cohen, per Lonach; was committed to gaol in default of bail, for obtaining property of Lieutenant Montgomery under pretence of immediately paying for it, and presenting an order, for payment where he had no effects. Defendant is a sort of self-taught lawyer, and evinced a great knowledge of Mansion House, Guildhall, and provincial Police Office practice, but not sufficient to evade the scrutiny of our outlandish laws; but we understand he means to give them law upon the subject at the Supreme Court. The Tasmanian, 22 Nov 1833.
