CRIME: Stealing £3. He was tried on 10 April 1834. In his VDL Conduct Record he states that he stole 5 sovereigns from his master. Prior to that, he had been found guilty of picking pockets (for which he was flogged), but was acquitted on another charge of robbing his employer. He was granted a Free Certificate No.628 on 2 September 1841 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-7$init=CON31-1-7p296).
