Family connections for Honora (Collins Arre: COLLINS Honora/Norah (Collins) was born about 1770. She was tried at Kerry Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 9 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS; he was Protestant. She had a relationship with Thomas (Francis) whom she married on 3 7 1801 (same day as baptism of 3of their 6children) at St Johns Cathedral Parramatta. She apparantly left her husband about June 1814. She is recorded in 1828 as Free by Servitude housekeeper at Evan. She died on 5 9 1838 age67 at Castlereagh. [Some details taken from this Website] Thomas (Francis) was born about 1770. He was tried w/1other for receiving bills of exchange of Cornelius (Tongue) at Warwick Assizes on 8 8 1789, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet Ship ADMIRAL BARRINGTON. He was Free by Servitude by 1797. He obtained land grants & produced crops for sale to government. On 8 6 1814 he reported that his wife had absented herself & he was not responsible for debts. He died on 3 9 1820 age50/6 at Castlereagh & was buried at Christ Church Castlereagh. Thomas died in 1820 and Honora was by herself in 1828 when the census was held. Sainty & Johnson; 1828 Census of New South Wales: [Ref F1243] Francis, Honora, 65, FS, Marquis Cornwallis, 1796, Housekeeper at Evan. Three of her grown daughters, married and with their families and one son are also mentioned in the Census.




In the colony, Honora married Thomas Francis (Convict, Admiral Barrington, 1791) at Parramatta, July 3 1801. Thomas Francis of the parish of Parramatta and Norah Collins of ditto were married in this church by banns this third day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and one by me Samuel Marsden. Thomas signed the register and Norah made her X mark In the presence of Michael Collins and Mary Ward who both made their X marks. Honora and Thomas had 7 children between 1797 and 1809.
