Owen Commuskey was tried and found guilty of Larceny (steal a roll of tobacco) at Monaghan, Ireland on 31/12/1842 - 7 yrs Transportation sentence. He was transported on the 'Orator' departing Dublin 12/08/1843 arriving Van Diemens Land 21/11/1843. Age 19yrs; Roman Catholic; can read; single; Shoemaker; 5'2 3/4"; dk brown hair; lt brown eyes; Native Place: Co. Monaghan. 18mths Probation. Station Gang: Broadmarsh. 10/02/1844: Abscond - existing period of probation to be extended 6mths, 3 of which hard labour and in chains. 13/03/1844: Oatlands - steal various articles from the dwelling house of Oliver. Committed for trial. 27/03/1844: Oatlands Supreme Court - assault on P. Oliver, being armed with a gun and steal 1 gun. Guilty. Death sentence. To be removed to Norfolk Island 4yrs. 05/10/1846: Tried Norfolk Island - wilful murder of John Morris. Death sentence. Executed at Norfolk Island 12/10/1846.
