John Changed his name to Reed upon completion of his 7 year sentence. This later became misspelt? to Reid.

John Conibear was transported to Van Diemans Land for 7 years in the ship "Theresa" for stealing three geese in Devon, Engalnd. He arrived on 4th of July 1845 and after serving his time he changed his surname to Reed, his mother's maiden name, Elizabeth Reed. He died in Hobart in 1857. John was my great-great-grandfather.
