Bridget CONN (alias Sarah STANMORE) was convicted at Sussex, England on 22 Feb 1837 for stealing a watch. Previous offences. 14 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Platina' arriving 22 Oct 1837. Aged 30 yrs; married; 5'1" height; housemaid/laundress. Native place: Clare, Ireland. Husband: Edward CONN (already transported) - possibly Edward CON transported to New South Wales on the 'Lloyd' 1837, although he was only reported to be 19 yrs of age. VDL: Work services. Numerous notes of misconduct and time spent at the Female Factory, both Hobart and Launceston. Ticket of Leave granted. 30 Nov 1844: Application for permission to marry - to Mark NIGHTON. (ref. 52/1/2 no. 133) 31 July 1846: Application for permission to marry - to Edward STERN. (ref. 52/1/2 no. 436) 7 Sept 1846: Marriage - Bridget CONN, aged 36yrs, servant, widow to Edward STERN, aged 27 yrs, groom, bachelor. At Parish of Holy Trinity, Church of England, Launceston, VDL.
