Elias Connell was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 14th Jul 1816 and arriving 20th Dec 1816 with 150 passengers.
Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

Per "Surrey", 1816 1816 Dec 26: On list of convicts disembarked from the "Surrey" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution (Reel 6005; 4/3495 p.410) 1818 Jun 1,2: Re permission to marry at Parramatta (Reel 6006; 4/3498 p.269) 1823 Jan 29: On list of persons who obtained tickets of leave during the last week (Reel 6039; 4/424 p.133) No marriage, for children found on the NSW BDM. 30/1/1823: TOL 10/4/1825: COF There is one death registered on the NSW BDM for ‘Elias Connell’ who died in 1841 aged 66.




Elias Connell was convicted at Cork City in 1816 and given a 7yr sentence. Transported to New South Wales, Australia on the "Surrey" arriving 1816. Aged 47yrs, a tailor from Cork Co.
