John Connett was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 9th Apr 1834 and arriving 17th Aug 1834 with 262 passengers.
Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

1834 - WIFE; Sarah Connett arrived at Van Diemen's Land per Ship; Edward - 4 Sept 1834. Noted in Sarah's Indent; HUSBAND: John, a carpenter, tried with her. Sarah states; I do not know where he is. I left him in Gaol. 1848 - Certificate of Freedom; 26 Feb 1848. Age; 72.
