In about December 1852 Andrew Connolly (Connelly in family records) escaped from Tasmania before he served his full term. The last record in Andrew's conduct record was on 29th March 1853, and it was on that date that an article appeared in the Tuesday edition of the "Hobart Town Gazette" at page 256. The under-mentioned Ticket-of-Leave holders having failed to report themselves in the month of December last at the Police Office of the District in which they were then severally resident, the Lieutenant-Governor has directed that their Tickets-of Leave shall be revoked, in conformity with the 4th Section of the Regulations dated 4th March, 1851. It is further notified that these convicts are now illegally at large, and that a reward not exceeding £2 will be paid for the apprehension of each. 21144 - Callaghan, Jeremiah, [convict on the] Pestogee Bomangee 21172 - Connolly, Andrew, ditto Andrew Connelly made his way to Geelong, and took up work at Native Creek (Inverleigh).
