Ellen Connolly for stealing on the 11th March, some Calico, the property of E Hickson of Clonakilty. Donovan, a the Calico under the Publican, deposed that the prisoner put while she was taking some porter, and the prosecutrix counter, identified the Calico by a particular mark which she had put on it. Guilty, and this being her second offence, his Lordship sentenced her to transportation for 7 years. Cork Constitution, 31 March 1831.

In the non-Annotated Convict Register it states that Ellen was 20 years old; she could neither read or write; Religion Catholic and trade a kitchen maid. Native place was stated but cannot read the handwriting maybe Ba..... Convicted of stealing calico and sentenced at Cork in March 1831 for years. Had one prior conviction for which she served 6 months. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 0 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair dark brown and eyes dark hazel. She was assigned to Mrs Barkus. This assignment confirmed in the 1837 muster. Transport number 165. Certification of freedom obtained in 1839. Number 39/1803.
