Mary Connolly was transported on the Margaret, departing 30th Apr 1840 and arriving 18th Aug 1840 with 78 passengers.

Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

Mary Connolly was 23 years old on arrival, she had 1 female child - not stated if she was on board with her. Her native place was Armagh County. Mary was single. She had a sister Ann Connolly or Thornbury, convict, arrived C1838. (most likely per Diamond 1838). Mary was assigned to John Simson. 15/1/1841: Convict Death Register: Mary died at Newtown, NSW.
