Convict Notes




Convict Indentures state that Thomas Connor who is 38 years old; can read and write; Status single; Religion Roman Catholic. A native of County Westmeath and an occupation as thatcher. He was convicted of stealing window sashes in Westmeath on 28 March 1835 and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes were that he was 5 feet 7 1/2 inches; complexion dark sallow, freckled and pock pitted; hair black and eyes hazel. It was also noted that he is blind of left eye; breast hairy, back part of head bald and finger nails short. Prisoner number 35-2608; transport number 230. He died on 10 May 1842 and was buried at the Oaks Burial Ground now part of Oaks Estate, ACT. Thomas Connor assigned to Henry Hall at Charnwood.
