Child: male child born 9 August 1843 to Ann CONNOR, convict. (ref. 33/1/1 no. 1735) Leach family departure from Van Diemen's Land to Victoria 1853. On the ship 'Clarence' from Launceston to Melbourne. Ann Connor, ship to Colony 'Mary Anne'. Steerage passenger, now free status. Abraham, Ann and 2 children. (ref. Departures POL220/1/3 pg 56)

n.b. There is also an 'Ann O'Connor' on this voyage of the 'Mary Anne'. Upon arrival in VDL: Aged 26yrs; house servant; 4'10 3/4"; Native place of birth: Roscommon, Ireland. 4 Feb 1843: Child Owen CONNOR admitted to the Queens Orphanage, New Town, nr Hobart. Mother - Ann CONNER per 'Mary Anne'. No father recorded. Owen discharged, to the care of his mother, now on a Ticket of Leave, on 13 April 1848. (ref. SWD7 & 28) Owen is believed to have been born in Ireland and accompanied his mother on the voyage. Child: Maria LEACH born 23 Sept 1847 at Launceston. Father - Abraham LEACH, labourer, Elizabeth St. Mother - Ann LEACH formerly Connor. (ref. 33/1/23 no. 1863) 28 Feb 1845: Application for permission to marry - to Abraham LEACH (transported per 'Red Rover') (ref. 52/1/2 no. 111) 16 April 1845: Marriage to Abraham LEACH, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Launceston. Abraham age 33yrs, a tailor, on a Bond. Ann CONNOR, age 28yrs, a house servant, on a Bond. (ref. 37/1/4 no. 2100)

Anne Connors was convicted at Kings Co. on 02/07/1840 for Larceny - steal 2 pigs and a bundle of clothing. 14 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Mary Ann/Mary Anne', arriving 19/03/1841. (Prosecuted by her step-father, William Connor (or Connors). Married. Husband Peter Finn at Galway. 2 children. Assignments of service in Colony. 02/05/1843 returned from service as she was pregant (record book does not record any other details). Conditional Pardon 22/08/1848.
