Margaret CONNORS was convicted at Wexford, Ireland on 9 July 1850 for arson - house burning. Not convicted before. 15 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' arriving 1851. Ship's report: Very quiet. Aged 23 years; housemaid; married, widowed (husband William deceased 2 yrs); 5'1 1/2"; can read; Roman Catholic. Native place - Co. Limerick. Brothers: Dennis & William (at native place) Sister: Johanna (at native place) Assigned to various work services in the Hobart district. 21 Feb 1853: Application for permission to marry - to Patrick POWER (transported per 'Hyderabad'. Approved. 11 April 1853: Married Patrick POWER. (ref. 37/1/12 no. 698.) Church of St. Joseph, Hobart. 24 July 1853: Aged 25yrs Died, childbirth. Hobart. (ref. 35/1/4 no. 227) (No record found of baby surviving.)
