NEWSPAPER REPORT OF SENTENCING: “WATERFORD ASSIZES. COUNTY RULE OF COURT ... Michael Connor [sic], Owen Connor, Pat. 1849, 28 December: JAIL – He was released from prison. -- 1850, 4 March: TRIAL – Michael Connors was convicted for stealing sheep, sentenced to “3 months from his committal and 60 lashes [sic] on Judge leaving town, and 15 on expiration of sentence”. --0--

He was listed as 19 years old, labourer, from Kildora, County Cork; 5’0” tall, gray eyes, brown hair, fair complexion; Roman Catholic, no education - illiterate (Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Waterford; Waterford; 1849-1887; image 81). --0--




Michael CONNORS was convicted at Waterford, Ireland on 24 June 1850. 10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Western Australia per the 'Phoebe Dunbar' which arrived 30 Aug 1853. Michael is recorded as having died at sea - cause typhus.
