Ship: Sir William Bensley (1817). --------------------------------------------------- Old Bailey Proceedings Online (www.oldbaileyonline.org, version 8.0, 25 August 2020), May 1815, trial of JOHN KELLY PATRICK CONWAY THOMAS BAGSTER (t18150510-84). JOHN KELLY, PATRICK CONWAY, THOMAS BAGSTER, Theft > grand larceny, 10th May 1815. 675. JOHN KELLY , PATRICK CONWAY , and THOMAS BAGSTER , were indicted for feloniously stealing, on the 27th of April , one box, value 5 s. one pewter plate, value 1 s. and other articles , the property of James Baverstock . JAMES BAVERSTOCK . I am a tide-waiter ; I was stationed on board a brig, in Billingsgate Dock . About half past six o'clock, I went for my things, and found them gone; they were placed at the after part of the cabin; I enquired for them, and was going to offer a reward, when I heard the were at Aldgate watchhouse. WILLIAM BIRCH . I am a watchman. On the 27th of April, we went down to the Tower ditch; close to the side, we found the prisoners; the sailor had the box on his head. - WOOING. I am patrole, belonging to Tower Hill. I saw the prisoners go down to the Tower ditch; we stopped them. Kelly's Defence. These men employed me to carry the box. KELLY, NOT GUILTY .
