Old Bailey: HENRY COOKE. Theft: simple larceny. 10th September 1829 Verdict Guilty Sentence Transportation HENRY COOKE was indicted for stealing, on the 2nd of Septembe , 2 sheets, value 4s., the goods of Robert Waters. MARY WATERS. I am the wife of Robert Waters, who keeps the King's Head, Church-street, Bethnal-green. The prisoner came on the 1st of September and asked for two nights lodging; he slept there that night, and went away in the morning - I then missed the two sheets; he had paid for his lodging. WILLIAM EDWARDS. I am assistant to Mr. Harvey, a pawnbroker, in Brick-lane. The prisoner brought these two sheets between seven and eight o'clock in the morning, and I stopped him with them, as I had had information from a Mr. Graham, the day before, that he had lost a sheet. MARY WATERS. I believe these are mine, but there is no mark on them. He said, before the Magistrate, that he took them from the bed where he slept the night before. GUILTY. Aged 22. Transported for Seven Years. Henry Cooke was listed as 33 years old on arrival (Ancestry Convict Indents) but was about 24/5. Place of Birth: Shoreditch, London. Occupation: Silk weaver/coffin maker. Henry was literate, Protestant, single, 5'4" tall, ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, small scar in left eyebrow, both arms ##### the elbow joints being contracted. Assigned to H. O'Brien at Yass Plains. 1832: Assigned to George Druitt at Mount Druitt. 1837 Muster: Sydney Hospital. 29/8/1837: Permission to marry Anne Rooney (Pyramus 1836) Henry was 30 and free - Ann was 19 and on Bond. 23/8/1837: Married at St. Patrick's, Sydney they had 11 children. 25/11/1847: COF 15/10/1890: Henry died at Goonoo Station, Wellington, NSW. He was 84. Ann died 1/8/1887 at Goonoo Station.
