At the assizes for this county, which open on Saturday before Justices Park and Holroyd, there are only 15 prisoners for trial:—viz. … Thomas Cooke, on two charges of sheep-stealing, at Market Deeping and James Deeping respectively, and also on charge of stealing a sheep-skin at the former place;.. Stamford Mercury, 15 July 1825. Sheep stealing Market Deeping. Thomas Cooke, aged 35, late of Market Deeping, shepherd, was convicted of stealing, on the 10th of Oct last, two shearing ewes, the property of Mr. Rd. Turnill, of Stamford. Mr. Turnill, besides having a farm at Stamford, occupies quantity of land at Deeping  and the prisoner had been employed him for the eight or nine years to superintend his flock at that place. .... Stamford Mercury, 22 July 1825 The following convicts were removed from Lincoln Castle on Saturday the 28th ult. for the Dolphin hulk lying off Chatham: Thomas Cooke, Joseph Walker, Robert Scargall, Wm. Hodgson, and John Royte, for the term of their natural lives; Edward Laythorpe, for 14 years; and Samuel Glover, George Gibson, Wm. Ellis, Thomas King, William Dunn, and Wm.
