15/3/1824 Hampshire Advertiser Hampshire, England: Peter Coombs, jun. charged with stealing five sheep, the property of Thomas Mariner Walker ot Haslemere, Sussex ; and Peter Coombs charged with concealing a quantity of mutton the property of Thomas Mariner Walker. 14 years transportation. No ship found for Peter Coombs Snr. Colonial Secretary Papers: COOMBS, Peter. Per "Mangles", 1824 1824 Oct 30: On list of convicts landed from the "Mangles" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution (Reel 6013; 4/3512 p.646) 1825: On list of convicts mustered in the service of Robert Crawford; in 1824-25 (Fiche 3126; 4/1841A No.176 p.151) 1825 Nov 21: Convict in the service of Robert Crawford of Sydney at the last two musters (Reel 6016; 4/3516 p.9) 1828 Census: at Ellalong, Luskintyre Labourer, aged 28. Assigned to Thomas Crawford. 1837: TOL Holder, aged 34. 29/12/1839: Maitland - Coombs, Peter, Mangles Age: 39; Condition: TOL - to marry Caroline Batkin, aged 24, a Widow. No marriage registration found. 1868: This information came from Jan Hughes: There is a grave at Ellalong cemetery NSW near Cessnock with an inscription "Peter Coombes, b 1801, arrived 1824 on the convict ship Mangles. D1868."
