District, Richmond. --------------------------------------------------------------- HIGHWAY ROBBERY AND MURDER. On Friday last, as three carts were travelling home from Sydney, on the Richmond road, about a mile and a half from South Creek, near Clydesdale, two men rushed out of the bush, and presented a pistol at the driver of the first cart, at the same time demanding his money, and he immediately gave up all he had. The robbers then proceeded, to the next cart, and threatened the owner, if he would not give up his money, that they would blow his brains out; the poor man, regardless of their threats, resisted as long as he was able, when one of the villains discharged the contents of a pistol into his groin, and decamped. The unfortunate man, whose name is Thomas Mason, holding a ticket of leave, did not survive above five minutes. He has left a wife and four small children to deplore his loss. The Police, upon hearing of the murder, immediately sent out a strong party of constables, and three of the mounted police, who proceeded to the spot, and fell in with the tracks of the murderers, and traced them for about eight miles, when night coming on, further search proved fruitless.
