Convict Notes
His real name was George Watson. His occupation was a cooper which seems to have been mistaken for his surname. He was born 4 May 1791, Aberdeen, Scotland. Married Janet Wright, 9 July, 1814, Aberdeen, Scotland. He gained his Certificate of Freedom 2 April, 1835. He worked as a carpenter from Pitt Street, Sydney. Date of death unknown. His wife Janet, followed him out to NSW as a free settler sometime between 1820 and 1822 with his two children, Margaret and George. Janet died in 1828 and the two children were placed in the orphan school.
I wish to correct an entry made earlier this date (21/10/2011). George Watson did not work as carpenter from Pitt Street, Sydney.
