Family connections for John (Cooper) are: COOPER John (Cooper) was born about 1788 & became a clerk. He was tried for stealing silver spoons etc, on 23 3 1810, of Bevan (???) at Old Bailey on 11 4 1810, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 29 9 1811 after a voyage of 5months on ADMIRAL GAMBIER; he was 5'7" dark complexion black hair brown eyes. He was a dealer when he married Ann (Jamieson her second marriage) on 14 7 1814 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He maybe worked as a clerk & was issued his Certificate of Freedom no.460 on 31 1 1815. He was a dealer in 1814. In 1815 he then absconded from RAN (Royal Australian Navy?). [Some details taken from this Website] Ann (Jamieson) was born on 29 6 1797. She had a first relationship with Richard (Brooks) before the arrival of his wife from England. She produced 2known children in her lifetime. Details of Ann (Jamieson)s family are given in entry for William (Jamieson SALAMANDER 1791) on this Website. John (Cooper) & Ann (Jamieson) produced 1child: 1.Sarah (Cooper) was born on 28 6 1815 & baptised on 16 7 1815 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. 1810 - Old Bailey Proceedings Online April 1810, trial of JOHN COOPER (t18100411-107). JOHN COOPER, Theft > grand larceny, 11th April 1810. 367. JOHN COOPER was indicted for feloniously stealing on the 23d of March , twenty six silver spoons, value 20 l. 2 s. twenty silver forks, value 11 l. 19 s. a silver fish knife, value 2 l. 19 s. and a silver ladle, value 6 l. 15 s. the property of - Bevan........ The prisoner left his defense to his counsel. GUILTY , aged 22. [1788] Transported for Seven Years .
