Connell, John Ballentine, Peter Cosgrave, and Laurence McAlley, 65th Regt, Tried at Isle of Wight, 8 May 1816, Laid before the Prince Regent, 10 June 1816. Charges, Desertion under base & aggravated circumstances. Sentence: Transportation as a felon for Life.




The Tickets of Leave granted to the following Persons have been cancelled, for the reasons set against their respective Names, viz. Fame, Peter Cosgrove, insane. By Command of His Excellency the Governor, ALEXANDER McLEAY. Colonial Secretary's Office, 3d September, 1831. Sydney Gazette, 6 Sep 1831.
14/3/1817: On list of convicts disembarked from the "fame" and forwarded to Liverpool for distribution. 4/3/1822: On Rose's Road Party; on list of men selected for clearing Mr Marsden's estate. 1831: TOL cancelled - Peter Cosgrove, fame - insane. 24/11/1841: Syd. Gaz. Prisoners Absconded lits: Cosgrove Peter, Fame, 34, Soldier and Labourer, Longford, 5'7", hazel eyes, brown hair, sallow complexion from Lunatic Asylum - idiot. There is a death recorded in the nsw bdm for Peter Cosgrove in 1847 age 42. According to his birth year he should be 50 however it does coincide with the absconders list above.
