Family connections for William (Costello) are: COSTELLO William (Costello) married Bridget (Hogan). He may have died before 1824. [These parents are also stated to be Nicholas (Costello) & Elizabeth (Egan)] Bridget (Hogan) petitioned strongly for her sons release. William/Nicholas (Costello) & Bridget (Hogan) produced perhaps 4children: 1.Mary (Costello) was born about 1803. 2.William (Costello) was born about 1802 at Ballynakill Co. The William of the ASIA had his mother Bridget appeal for his sentence to be rescinded but it wasn't. She claimed he was the main bread winner - "Petitioner resides at Culkeen near Dunmore, Co Galway. States convict is the sole support of petitioner and three children; Second petition dated 18 May 1824; Third dated 27 July 1824 <nationalarchives.ie> In his death certificate, his mother's name was recorded as Bridget nee Hogan, which supports the one who signed the petition. He was of Parish Clonrush, Galway (N.S.W. Death certificate, number 5427), which was nearby to the petitioner Bridget. This William married Martha Whittaker 11 May 1857 at Goulburn. per "ASIA I" (3) [1825], Trial 1824 Galway 7, DOB 1803 Galway Co. He was assigned to the district of Bringelly which could explain his movement later to the Goulburn district (Ancestry Convict Indents and Colonial Secretaries Papers)

A previous researcher in the 1980's thought William was per "Henry Porcher", but evidence of age, place of trial, parent's name support the William to marry Martha was this William per "Asia". When William died, he was written as being the oldest man to die in Australia (per newspapers via Trove website). His parents were William Costello and Bridget (nee Hogan) per his death certificate.His occupation (as per 1828 census, TOL, and death certificate) was that of a shepherd.
