Moreton Bay Convict Records. William Costello, per Borodino, tried Kilkenny. 11 Aug 1827, Life. Stealing heifers. Butcher. Colonial conviction: Gen Sess, Wallis Plains, 4 Oct 1829, for Stealing a quantity of tobacco, the property of his master. Sentence: Three years. Died 5 March 1830. Description: William Costello, native place, Kilkenny, age 31, 5 ft 7. sallow pock-pitted comp, dk brown hair, hazle eyes.

William Costello was 30 years old on arrival in NSW and was transported for ‘Stealing Heifers’. William’s native place was Kilkenny and he was a widower with 2 children. 4/10/1829: Tried at Wallis Plains for ‘Stealing a quantity of tobacco, the property of his master – sentenced to 3 years at Moreton Bay. William was then described as 31 years old, 5’7” tall, sallow pock pitted complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes. 5/3/1830: Convict Death Register: William died at Moreton Bay (age listed was 23??) – Captain Logan.
