The Convict Indentures state that John Coughlan is 40 years old. He could neither read nor write; religion Catholic, status single and a native of County Cork. He ploughs. He was convicted of manslaughter at Cork on 31 March 1828 and sentenced to 7 years. He had 2 prior convictions. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 5 inches; complexion dark ruddy; hair dark brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 135.
