The following convicts, who had been capitally convicted left our county gaol on Tuesday night, for the York Hulk, Portsmouth—Richard Scarratt, John Cox, Charles Bonell, John Baylis, James Davis, Richard Mare, and James Hawson, for transportation for life Staffordshire Advertiser, 8 May 1824. In the account of removal of convicts, to the York, only seven names were given, nine should have been inserted, viz. John Cox, George Coy, John Maylis, James Davis, Charles Bonell. Richard Mare, Richard Scarratt, James Rawson, and Thomas Gnosill, all for life. Staffordshire Advertiser 22 May 1824.

George Coy retuned to England in 1841 he married Ann Abell at St Phillip's Cathederal in Birmingham on 4th December 1843. George and Ann Coy returned to Sydney on board the barque Hindoo arriving on 9th June 1844

1828 Census NSW: George Coy, TL Shopkeeper, Pitt St. Sydney. T.D. Mutch Index: George Coy, shoemaker married Margaret Nightingale (widow) 4 December, 1827 at St. Phillips Church, Sydney. Margaret Nightingale (nee Chamberlain) had been married to John Nightingale, dealer. She had a daughter, Sarah born in 1825 who aged 17 married Martin Byrne in 1842. It appears Margaret Coy died. George takes another wife Ann (surname?) no record. BDM-NSW:424/1846 Birth of son George 8th March, 1846 to parents, George Makin Coy and Ann Coy. SMH 1848-1851 1092/34.1848: George Bain Makin Coy of Castlereagh Street died 31 March, 1848 leaving a wife and child. George Coy's son, George died at Ryde in 1931 (BDM-NSW 8868/1931.
