Craughwell, ticket of leave, concerned together in defrauding one Martin Bryan of a certain order for the payment of the sum of £10, which he had entrusted to the prisoner Kettle to take up to Windsor to procure payment of. This was a case brought up in such a shade of mystery that it was impossible to ascertain its bearings, but as it appeared there had been a fraud committed, the Bench sentenced Kettle to work in irons for 3 months, and the prisoner Craughwell, for having grossly prevaricated in his evidence on this examination, to be deprived of his ticket of leave.
